The Gary Steelers revitalized Pop Warner football and cheer under the direction of Richard Ligon and Richard Woods. Both seen Pop Warner come and go in the City of Gary. In 1995 the two formed what is now the only youth football and cheer program in Gary with four teams and 60 kids. More than 1500 youth have come through our program to play in High School, College and Professional sports.
The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars is to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives
